Yepp, thanks deff want to go with the solid boots, Ive tryed the zipper and pop rivet ones on some frount wheel drive cars. Might be an ok quick fix but don't like them long term. I think I can handle this going to start this Monday, that the start of my weekend. Thanks for all the great help everyone. Will be in touch if there's a hitch.

You can do it the easy way, buy the zippered boots, cut the old boots off and install the new ones, that way you don't have to pull wheel,bearings, brakes etc, Silicone the inside and outside of the zipper. done 20 min each side.
on a side note I go through deep water and replaced mine with the new silicone one peice.
lasts longer and is much more stronger

If you are leaking gear oil out of the boots just replacing the boots won't solve your problem. You've got a bad seal.

Yes I do have a, bad seal. And I will be changing them also, I'm hoping there as easy as the rears? Want to go through it and put new grease in. And I want to start getting some of these little things cleaned up. I have anouther question, are there some kind of bushings or sleeve on the leaf spring ends at the shackles, there seems to be a gap between the shackle pin and leaf spring end? Thanks

I'm part of the Big Horn Sheep Society, and the state and us have drinkers out in the deasert. They fill with rain most of the time but July and Aug we have to truck water out there to fill the tanks. My bobed duce will carry six tanks of three hundred gl each but is still small enough to get in some of the tight places. The trucks the state lets us use are JUNK and can only carry two tanks.

HaHa, I knew when I posted that someone would do the math. I only haul 3or4 full, then drive back to the road where we have a water tank truck. But yes that would be a big load!

Ok got a good start on this project, great info on the step by step. Had a hell of a time getting the nuckel over the top king pin. Had to get the Dremil tool out and grind a little off the slot to get the pin to slid through. I think someone must of had the same prob because they put a zipper type boot on before I got it. anyway, I love working on this stuff gotta get a seal puller tomarrow. Going to pack it with Locas Red N Tacky #2, ia that ok?

If that stuff is like Cornhead grease you should be just fine. Sometimes the knuckles can be a pain to get off but rest assured, it went on, shoulda came off without grinding. I doubt that the little you removed will make any difference though!

That went well no problems. Only thing was 100+ wether. Going to stat on the drivers side later tonight. Thanks for all the help. Im a printing press opperator by trade so if I can help anyone with something along those lines let me know. Haha ya right im sure theres a web sight out there for that.
