Does anybody else’s MTVR have silicone all over EVERY electrical and air connection? It’s got the usual, I guess CARC, coating on every line and hose and wire in spades then all the connections are smeared with silicone RTV. It’s surprisingly annoying and difficult as it adds thickness to nuts and works around inside with little flaps. PIA to scrape it off. What the heck could it help on brass air line connections?

Maybe somebody was told “ go silicone that truck over there”.

Couple examples attached.

I can't imagine anything more than a motor pool sergeant being inclined to meter out some busy-work.

It's on anything that water or salt can get into to prevent rust and water intrusion or from coming loose with vibration.

Like the m939 marine Corp trucks that have a rubber coating layered on everything bottom side
Does the silicon get applied at the factory?

Yup. On every Marine MTVR. Extended service life of the truck for its intended salt environment use drastically
