Rusty fuel tank problem(s)

I am wondering if the deuce fuel tank has an aluminumized coating on the steel, as it is very shiny on the sealing surfaces of the fuel pump and sending unit, as well as a couple of spots where the paint has chipped off on the outside, which would make me think that it would have flash-rusted in short time.

If it is, muratic acid may not be a good thing to use? I know that it does NOT like aluminum!
