One plus is that it take about 5 minutes to replace the pancake and your back up compared to replacing a wheel cylinder.IMO, air brakes would be an improvement but not so much that I'd want to do the conversion.
The only problem we've ever had with air brakes in off-road applications is mud and dirt getting inside the brake chambers. When stuff gets inside the chambers it will eat the pancakes up in short order. This is easily solved though by making sure the rod boot and the plug for the caging bolt hole stays intact.
Way too vulnerable. I'm going to do that HydroMax conversion.man i dont know, it seemes like those canisters could get all bent up backing out of a big mud hole!
