Hummer Inc. (division of Old General Motors) sale to Chinese buyers fell through; then GM mothballed the company. Zero connection to AM General HMMWV production, other than the H1 sold through Hummer dealers were built on same line as the M998, then trimmed/completed in second facility. Last Hummer H1 Alphas built in 2006. Contracts are either up for award or have already been awarded to depot rebuild existing HMMWV's & push back into service - plus AMG is supposed to continue HMMWV production, albeit scaled back, for an unknown number of years.

Chinese company Dongfeng has been building a H1/HMMWV clone since the early 2000's - Both EQ2050 and SQF 2040 are based on imported AM General H1http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummer_H1 chassis
