Scammers yet again. YOU SHOULD READ

So it's no lie that I work hard to try to keep scammers at bay from here. The level of scrutiny and hoops I make them jump through had made the site a not worth while target since I effectively took away their means to message people.

Well, they've figured a way around it. They don't even need an account to exploit some people now. The latest example @HillbillyWizard posted https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/fraud-alert.212142/ I pieced together what has transpired.

The scammers are now simply sifting through posts searching for people that have posted their email addresses and phone numbers. Then contacting them directly.

There's no way I can prevent that. I will be going through and trying to clean up posts that have personal contact info in the ads, at least that will prevent them from being contacted any further. But I need YOUR help to prevent this. Please do not post your phone number, email address, or anything that makes it easy for scammers to contact you directly.

I admire the tenacity and the sheer sales skills that some of these scammers have. As so often, if they applied their skills in the legal world, they would be able to pull a hefty and legal income in product sales.
One of those creatures caught me unawares and, man, was he good. Ended up not losing any money but it required some effort on my part. What I am trying to say is, do not believe that just because you feel that you are smart, alert, careful etc. they cannot get to you. Oh yes, they can! And they are goooood!

Everyone can help here. If you open up a thread, and there is a email or phone number listed there, send that person a PM. Or tell a moderator.

This rock12 and others, do they have a bot to look for phone and email data or do they just look through vendor /advert pages? Just interested.

I'd guess they have a bot looking as well as simply targeting the classifieds section.
