On my m35a2c the drivers seat bottom is shot. The canvas is gone from the top and the foam has a hole in it down to the metal bottom. Everywhere I see them advertised for sale they say "seat covers". I take this to mean this is the canvas material only with no foam. Am I right? If I am there seems to be nowhere that I've checked that sells the whole seat bottom. Does anyone know where I can find one or where to get the foam?

Ebay has had the old style seat(complete) on a pretty regular basis. The newer style has been on less often. You might also try George at Vermont Commercial Salvage.

If you run into the same or similar problem with the passenger seat bottom, I have an extra NOS (box/bench style) seat bottom that I'm looking to part with.

Dan,
I can part with some of the material. This is not the old style canvas but more of a nylon fabric. I will take a snap shot of it and post here later tongiht.

Here is a small piece of the cloth. It is a very tight weave, nylon cloth. I can drop this piece in the mail if you want to take a look. If you think it will work how big of a piece do you need? This as you can see is the pelt from the extremely rare and endangered giant squirrel. :D Could not resist this photo.

RE: Re: seat

May 19th, 2008.

Dear M16TY:

Any reputable auto upholstery shop should be able to do the foam and the cover(s) for your reasonably cheap, BUT I would suggest modifying the bottom cushion thickness by increasing the amount of foam by say another inch, and have the new covers fitted accordingly. This will make the wear and tear on ye old derriere a little less on trips, as I have experience doing this to my 1961 AM General M422A1, and it made that under cushioned vehicle seem to ride a little better at the time..... rofl

Resurrecting this old thread for a little help...

I ordered a set of canvas seat covers (4, covers both driver's "spring" style and passenger bench), for my truck. The main problem is the driver's seat-back. Since I'm re-covering one, I figured I would make everything match. The price was reasonable by me.

One thing that I notice about the current seat bottoms is that there is "piping" along the corners/edges. Am I to assume that I will lose this effect when I re-cover the seats? Has anyone re-covered their seats and found this to me a problem?

Taking the seats and materials to an auto seat upholstery shop might be a good idea. The foam could probably be re-done as well.

Just looking for a little feedback.

(I see where I posted back in 2008 under this thread, that I had an NOS passenger seat bottom!) aua
