What's the funniest reaction you've seen by others, to your duece?

I'll start with this...

So I'm bouncin' thru the desert, in second gear, "cowboy cruise" on 1500 rpm's, with the sun at my back and the wind in my face, and I had the LNS's (Little Neighborhood Stormtroopers) with me. I spotted a vehicle parked a couple hundred yards up the road. As we got closer I noticed they were doin' some shootin', and had they're ear muffs on. They couldn't see us (sun at our backs) and they couldn't hear us. (ear muffs) When we got about thirty yards from them they spotted us, and man did they scramble! I never seen so many guns get put away so fast in all my life! When we drove by and they saw the kids in the back with their little army helmets on, they started smiling, laughing (at themselves) and waving. On the way back they did the same thing, less the panic/scramble. I wonder what they were thinking...

We seem to get mostly double-takes.

Pull into the gas station, the guy at the counter does a double-take

Pull up to Wal-Mart, everyone in the parking lot does a double-take

Now, most of the other truck drivers you pass on the road give ya thumbs up!

We get asked about where it came from and what it can do along with "Could I take a look?". Truckers give us <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_thumzup.gif" alt="Thumb Up"> all the time!

It seems that I get questions like, "what are you going to do with that?" "what kind of gas mileage do you get?" and "boy, that thing is BIG!"

That is the price for living too close to a big city full of idiots! <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_reyes.gif" alt="Reyes">

Oh yeah, can't forget the "why'd you buy that?" question, get that a lot

The response is always "why not?"

Hey, if you got to ask, you'll never know

My favorite response is, DO YOU OWN ONE? <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_question.gif" alt="Question">

When they say NO, I tell them that "that's why I own one"! <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve"><img src="speech/icon_speech_yeah.gif" border="0">

When we were returning home with 'Storm and Twister a hot blonde driving a "T" top honked her horn at us and gave a <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_thumzup.gif" alt="Thumb Up"><img src="speech/icon_speech_yeah.gif" border="0">! That's another reason (just don't tell my wife).

i pulled into a convinience store once. i had camo pants on, a black t shirt, combat boots, and my camo boonie hat with the 30/06 shells in the bullet rings. i look a little rough to begin with, and as im walking i heard some black lady tell her friend "look theres that sniper" now remember that was in virginia, and im in new jersey. i just couldnt help but laugh, and i kept laughin till i came out and left. you should have heard her she was seriously frightened, that was classic
this may not be funny to some people but i gotta share it anyways. i am a maintenance worker in a state run developmental center here in jersey that houses about 650 mentally retarted men and women. when i drive the old deuce to work, which is often since im only 5 minutes away, some of the guys that live there salute me when im drivin in.

Big Mike,
That's hilarious!<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">
Yea... the "sniper" is gonna sneak around in a duece and cammies. Nobody will spot him. I can hear it all now....
"He's probably just waitin' for Tuesday when the AWB sunsets. Then he will be able to go to Wal-mart and buy an "assault weapon", throw it in the back of the duece and "raze villiages" and "cut off heads" and stuff. Confound those Republicans!"
A little confused, aren't they?

At least the mentally challenged have it figured out. They just enjoy seeing the truck, and show their appreciation by saluting. Kinda makes ya wonder who belongs in the institution, doesn't it?<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">

Sheesh some people are paranoid, reminds me of one night after a truck pull we stopped at Denny's...I still had my pit pass wristband on and pulled out my knife to cut it off...this girl a few tables over freaks and screams, "Oh my God he's going to slit his wrists"<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_disapprove.gif" alt="Disapprove"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_disapprove.gif" alt="Disapprove"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_disapprove.gif" alt="Disapprove">

i have come to find in my travels that most people, at least here in the north east, are are paranoiod or scared of just about anything that differs from the daily routine. if more people looked fear in the eye and laughed at it the world would be alot safer. what i mean is if sombody is pullin a robbery and wavin a pistol or a knife around, he more than likely is just using it as a scare tactic and doesnt intend to harm anybody. somebody points a gun or knife at me im gonna take it, or beat the guy into submission.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_thumzup.gif" alt="Thumb Up">

Last night I'm putting the front tire back on the duece. One of the little neighborhood stormtroopers is "helping" me. We call him "The Genius"...

"Hey Genius... Hold the flashlight for me."

He shines it right in my eyes. I'm instantly blinded, I drop the tire, and fall back flat on my ***, pinned under the tire. STILL pointing the light in my eyes, he says...

"You're sweating like a pig!"

i got one for ya about the neighborhood kids. some little punk thought it would be funny to unlatch the hold downs for my hood when i wasnt looking. needless to say the saftey latch is broken and my hood took off once my truck hit 50mph. it was kinda funny after it happened. i took an ammo can and stuck it on the valve cover and jumped on the hood a few times to make it operational again<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_jumpin.gif" alt="Jumpin">

Thought I'd bump this one up because it's worth it

My Dad works for a defense contractor, and the place he's at has a little mini-garage that has a few MV's in it so they can experiment with things like equipment placement and maintenence proceedures. Nothing spectacular, there's a Humvee, and an APC of some kind (can't remember it's official designation)

Well, a Colonel and his staff came by last week for a guided tour of the place since they're currently working on an anti-RPG system for convoy vehicles for the Army.

Just to be a card, he brought in the deuce' and parked it with the other MV's

The brass apparently got a bigger kick out of it than anything else on the tour <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">

I have to say i haven't had the chance to get any idiot responses yet as im sitting with a busted engine(trying to find one desperatly)But the day i drove it home it was hilarious, i live in the mountains and we have some very small roads even the paved one's, i had to time it just right as i went through one town, pop. of about 100 at the red light as i turned the corner a guy on his front porch raised his left hand and started doing circular motions as to say keep on rolling, it was funny and i just waved. Of course the traffic behind me couldn't see a thing, diesel smoke rolling LOL...

Ha! Got another one. This time it was one of the office babes. A Gen-X anti-everything type, fresh off the Kalifornia refugee boat. She saw the duece drivin' around town, but she didn't know it was mine. When she found out, naturally she was mortified. I mortify her regularly.

"That big ugly thing is yours? It figures... Is it legal? Can you actually HAVE something like that? Where did you get it? What are you gonna do with it?"

"Well Hunny, when I'm not haulin' the little neighborhood stormtroopers around in it, I'm toppling third world corrupt communist regimes."

"You're sick."

"Yes. Yes I am, but thank God I live in a country where I can own something as big and ugly as this without being thrown UNDER the jail."

Surprisingly, she still invited me to her Holloween party. Naturally I'll have to bring the duece and take her for a ride. I can't think of a better way to show her that the Arizona desert is still part of a free country. Maybe I'll dress up as Dianne Fienstien and really freak her out.

SQG;
Wonderful story! I had to read it to find out you live in AZ. Could you possibly put this in your signature (found in your profile)? It would be most helpful! Thanks and keep on MVing and keep us posted on the party (I like happy (ahem, yet clean, or edited) ending!)!
