2 loads of logs, second from last log, a 24"x10' oak log tipped of the forks(I had just greased the bar they slide on), and the momentum of turning and stopping allowed the forks to slide and the log to slide/tip off. It hit butt end down and tipped into the window with the other end.
I should have secured the forks(or not greased them) and I should not swing with the direction of momentum toward the truck cab. I should have moved slower.
I spent the whole day yesterday, replacing the door with a crappy door I had on a parts truck(and I'll need to replace it again cause it is a really crappy door, but it closes and has glass now).
Lesson learned, and I was very lucky(I didn't get hurt or do more damage).

Looks like all your CRUMPLE ZONES worked just as they were engineered to work.
Thank unsecured load in the bed coulda been a real pain-in-the-butt though.
Your engine and tranny even began the trip DOWN and UNDER rather than INTO the cab.

Well, it looks like the alternator hit the master cylinder, probably knocking the retaining clip off, allowing the cap to go missing(after the impact). I see BFS in both reservoirs still.
Did you have a passenger? Thats a lot of damage to the dash on the passenger side.
Maybe a simple belt failure just prior to the curve, was the whole issue. Just a guess.

Yes I already found another truck a m1028 just have to bid on it and yes I had my friend with me. We both had to crawl out the drivers window and both walked away.

My buddy is sore but fine and has no stitches or anything. No we were not wearing seat belts and the way things look if we did have them on we might not have walked away.

You might want to go to church and thank the lord for putting his hand between the back of your heads and that load of scrap!!!! SOMETHING stopped that stuff from coming in and it was not the window, that stuff is piled higher than the window and should have come right through. Think about it. And you were going faster than 35, I have done my share of investigations. By the way, The civvie frame and the mil frame are one and the same. The whole truck is civilian except for the electrical system.

that hole load was below the bed rails nothing was sticking up , The truck was squatting when sitting flat, and if you think I was going faster than 35 get me a m1008 I still have the scrap here and you can drive up the hill I just came up loaded. And look the frames look different to me. primed frame is a one ton frame.

Sorry but the cucv is a 1ton chevy frame, I have a stack of them here, they are identical. Half and Most 3/4 frames are not as tall. Mesure the same spots on the frames and you will see.

maybe the civi frames are the same but the primed frame is an 81 one ton Chevy frame. My dad had a friend at the psp run numbers stamped in the frame to find out what year it was an all that stuff. Maybe they changed from 81 to 83

Dude, I am glad you and your buddy are all right. Its just a truck and can be replaced, your life can not be. And ****, Chicks dig scars.
I firmly believe that things happen for a reason, even if we don't like it. This evet conspired for a reason to be told yet.
I wrecked my C20 almost a year ago, 11-18-2010, and that has been the hardest moment of my life thus far. I flipped it at 30-40 MPH, no one believes me, but thats what I was doing when I entered the turn. I think about it everyday. I should not have walked away, like the two of you should not have and your accident was much worse than mine.
Only you know what happened, and you may remember things days weeks or months from now. Maybe a belt did fail, maybe it didn't. I know you had just done the brakes not that long ago, and you are anal about PM just like I am.
My suggestion is to try to part it out, you will have better luck than me because you have a place to keep it. Now I kept my seat out of my truck, its wonderful in the garage as a nice place to sit and chill out. And I bet that engine and trans and all are still usable, **** my truck still ran and drove.
I am also with you on the Full Size Chevy truck. I have rolled one and be rear ended by a semi in one, and walked away, and driven away. I felt safer in my 85 then I do in the 05, but still feel safe. The 70s and 80s body style is my thing though. My truck saved 4 lives in its life time, 3 when my dad was hit head on by a 80s blazer at over 90 when he was going 50, kid fell asleep, and Mine. My dad actually put the spare tire on and drove it home. Now another Chevy saving 2 lives. Welcome to the "I should be Dead" Club.
