Shear Pins do Work!

Does anybody know if all SHEAR PINS are the same? I broke one and put a bolt in temporarily. Can I use a SHEAR PIN for a snowblower or one from a farm supply store or are they special militay pins?

They are made from 2024 aluminum. Heat treatment unknown but I'm on a mission to find out.

You won't find them at the local farm supply.

My 1955 edition of the ORD 9 lists the part number for the pin as G742-7368685 with no manufacturer part number, but it states that G742-7368685 supersedes G742-7538740.
G742-7538740 is listed and crossed with the following manufacturer part numbers…

RC-1328N2
SD-914781

Does any one have a newer ORD 9 to compare to?
Can any one use these to find the NSN?

Somehow I dont think a snowblower shear pin will work.... I've never tried it, but just a hunch...

Snow blower shear pins are typically a 1/4" grade 2 bolt. That is not sufficient , for the m35A2 winch shear pin.
