Man, I'm getting so psyched about the East Coast Convoy! Can't wait to hit the road in my deuce, convoying with a bunch of other military trucks. Gets my blood pumping!

Folks, now is the best time to sign up, if you are planning on going to Aberdeen MV Show in two weeks, to sign up for the ECC so that you can convoy in with many others who are trucking together, for the sake of showing off their trucks, enjoying a ride on the road together with other MVs, and for the safety of being with other MV drivers. Let's face it, our vehicles are old, and at times are prone to mechanical problems. With the ECC, you can get to Aberdeen surrounded by other MV owners, and if you have a minor (or major) mechnical issue, there are plenty of other owners around who can help you! Worst case scenario, you break down and we towbar you to the show, but it sure beats being stuck alone on the side of the road, waiting for help that might not come for hours. In the ECC, we are there for you! Plus, it's a lot of fun!

This is my first time actually being in the ECC, past years I planned on it, but never got a vehicle road-worthy in time, so I'm really looking forward to it this year!

If you are interested in routes and times, the Blue Serial is coming from up north out of Canada, the Red Serial is from New York state, south on I-95 toward Aberdeen, and the Yellow Serial is going north on I-95 and Rt. 301 toward the show. If you live along these routes, or would like to organize another serial route (from locations west, for example), look at the ECC website for times when we will be coming through, and we can arrange to meet you! Looking for any and all military vehicle drivers who want to head to the show together!

Convoy Commander for this event is Cabell Garbee (Steel Soldier name is CGarbee ) , you can PM him for more information. Or, just go to the website below to sign up. YOU MUST REGISTER ON THE ECC WEBSITE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE. Cost is nothing, unless you want a convoy t-shirt as well.

Look forward to you joining the convoy!

I got a PM asking me about personal vehicles being in the convoy, thought I would address that:

POVs and civilian vehicles are fine to use in the convoy! They are called "escort vehicles", you're more than welcome to join us! I realize that fuel prices have really impacted the cost of driving our beloved military trucks, but those who want to be in the ECC and get to Aberdeen don't have to feel left out. Come along, and meet the group, or if you need to know where and when to meet the ECC, send a PM to CGarbee, and he will be able to coordinate the time and place with you.

I have the Convoy Shirts in hand and have to say that the yellow print on the green shirts looks really good. The text for the labels describing the action of the three lever light switch (the rear grafic, in keeping with the "helpful" shirt theme that has been used in the past) is just the right size to be legible without being obnoxious...

Remember to hit the link on the Convoy page and fill out your shirt info so that we can get them sorted out by size/name before we get to Aberdeen to facilitate distribution.

Looking forward to a safe and fun ride up (and back from) Aberdeen.

Hey Guys.....The East Coast Convoy 2008 web site looks FANTASTIC......!!!

I just signed up for the Red Serial......with the M925a1

I might be the last truck in our convoy, but I don't have a " Convoy Ahead " sign....
does any one have one I could put on the truck for the ride down that's in
the Red or Blue Serial...??

Thanks,

C'dub

Good deal, Cdub! Glad to hear you are onboard!

Look forward to the shirts, Cabell, thanks for your hard work in getting them done.

Anyone else going to the show who would like to convoy in together? 4-5 days left to sign up, by now we're all sure of our work schedules and who can make it, and who can't. If you're looking for on-the-road company, go to the ECC website and sign up!

Rah-Rah... Sis-Boom-Bah.

In the meantime, the only guy that actually confirmed my meeting time along the Red Serial was Craig Williams, who contacted me today via email. I've been trying to get SOMEBODY (ANYBODY) to confirm the route and the time for pickup/meet for a month now.

At any rate, I will drive my M151A2 out to 295 on Thursday morning and drive the 17 miles south to the Paulsboro T/A Truckstop and meet everyone there in the Red Serial as usual.

But seriously fellas... next year we need a little less PR bullship and a little more actual leadership and coordination (and not at the last minute either). Try driving a notoriously rollover-prone M151 with no rollbar and/or machinegun mount out on the interstate by yourself in the rain with a top speed of 60 MPH and 18-wheelers screaming by at 80 MPH with little or no regard whatsoever for your directionals or hand signals and the pucker factor is up there. It would be kinda nice to know if the rest of the convoy is able to confirm that you will be able to join them and have the Dueces behind you out there.

Either way, I'm making the convoy again this year and looking forward to Cabell's cookout... should be a blast!

1. Well said Bob!
2. I've signed up twice but my name is not on the list.
3. Thanks Cdub for the update.
4. I still have people asking questions and are confused when they don't get answers.

And for those who serve, or have served in the Armed Forces, this would be any different from any other SNAFU because...????

Drumroll, please!

Waiter! Check!

Enjoy Aberdeen guys & travel safe!

I'll be traveling on business - booo-hiss! But I gotta make the bucks to get the M37 ready for next year's convoy!

I have never participated, but would love to one of these years. The only problem I've had with the convoy is that it puts you at the show so late on Thursday...the best day IMHO for buying stuff.

Well, I'll be leaving late Wednesday to head southeast to meet the convoy in Doswell, VA. Really looking forward to this event! Got my truck all worked over and gussied up for the show, this will be her first long maiden voyage since being re-engined.
