Slant-back dimensions

Well, I know a lot of y'all are gonna think I am crazy, and maybe I am, but I am thinking about fabricating a slant-back cover for my M1028 truck. I need a secure steel cover under which to lock stuff up but can't bring myself to installing a POS aluminum truck cap. I priced a couple commercial steel caps and heck, for those prices I can buy a slant-back kit! Besides, this is my last rodeo and I am spending my daughter's inheritance, so it doesn't matter.

If you have read this far you could be thinking, this guy just might be serious! Well I am. The first step will be to see if the slant-back kits currently offered for sale will even fit my truck bed. So here's my question - where can I obtain the footprint dimensions of the sponson/hatch/sponson? If these assembled parts will fit the width of my truck bed, I will fabricate whatever is needed to extend forward to the bed front. If there is enough room I might even install a turret!

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

You should do it. I want to see that.

I cant help you on dimensions but aren't the slant back kits going for over $10k now?

It would be a lot harder to chop up a hmmwv slant back kit than to chop up a blazer top. Maybe you can look at a jeep kit too with a rear cage. That you can mount a gun on.

Check out this page, looks like some neat options.
