Won an A3 recently-one of the towed onto lot gems. Bought it for parts-but when it arrived, I changed my mind. She is near new-the paint on the gas pedal is not worn off. Everywhere I look, this truck shows near new...
It is missing two drive shafts and has some rocker rust. Put some fresh batteries in her and fired it up-she started immediately. Problem is-she blew anti freeze out of her expansion tank-like 1 foot tall geyser!
Looks like I have a parts truck!

I would like to say this is a great post, Like said, make lemonade,and u had no problem with that... Alot of guys would have said it was the Guberments fault and they got screwed, But U handled it like a man and u have experience and it shows, U looked at it made a decision and manned up to it, alot of guys should read this post, it is up to the buyer to make the bid then be man enough to get her home and make it work, Your post is what its all about to me, great parts truck i think... The GL employee who wrote the ad may not have even known the frame was bent. They aren't subject matter experts on deuces and GL moves a lot of different surplus material besides deuces. And the guy writing the description may not even be the guy who took the pics. The guy on the computer may not have ever even laid eyes on the truck. Of course you might even get an auction with the wrong pics. You want a cheap truck, you put up with situations like this. And hope for situations were you get a free M35A3 with your trailer.

I was checking my old VFD parts Deuce today. The frame is complete and not hacked up.

Anyone know if a 1969 frame and the 1987 frame are the same? I don't remember seeing the frame in the parts manuals.

At this point I am leaning towards swapping everything over to the good frame.

Looking at the TM 9-2320-361-34p (1993) and TM 9-2320-209-34P (1976, w/1989 update), the frames numbers are the same.

Took some more pictures yesterday. It's hard to tell in the pics how bad it is but these will give you an idea.

All the bed mounting brackets on the drivers are sheared off. The cab support bracket is sheared and twisted.

The rear wheels don't really line up with the front wheel

As soon as I remove the bed, you will get a better idea of what the frame looks like.

I am trying to figure out what caused it. I have a good guess but I want to look into it furture.

I wonder why they ground off the Unit Number from the front and rear of the truck? You can see the grind marks under the fresh paint.

Since this an AirForce truck, CARNAC can't do his majic with the VIN number.
