If the burnt wire is indeed the feed wire for GEN2,
then be carefull hooking everything backup. It could be that the diodes in GEN2 have crapped out and caused the issue. Re-read post #8 where he talks about the neighbors car.
If you have everything hooked back up and attach the battery cable, watch for issues and be prepared to pull the battery cable off.
If you want to play it safe, you can remove GEN2 and have it tested.
