Sound deadening, sound proofing - which have you done and what are your results?

Used some sound deadening stuff off Amazon.


And some ceramic fiber for the dog house area.


Also used some 4 way stretch carpet on top of everything.

Nice work. Great ideas. What about drainage? Any issues or did you make cuts at the drainage slots?

4 way stretch carpet? Never knew that existed.

Where’d you get it/what brand? Is it self adhesive or did you use a spray?

So the carpet is called underfelt. It’s also called 4 way stretch. It is not to bad to work with. They use it a lot in camper van stuff. It is glued down. I used 3m spray glue. Spray the surface then spray the carpet and stick them together.

if that carpeting durable? Or would it rip if there’s a have bag thrown on it for example


my top and doors are good now too from rain, but I still get some water in from around the snorkel and windshield washer bottle areas in the front driver and passenger footwell. And a little around the rear glass at the rubber weather strip

Did the sound deadening make a big difference? I installed what I thought was sound deadening from the advertisement, but it really was just insulation for hit, its way too light to be a sound deadener. I don't want to rip it out so I may just do the sound deadening in the firewall.

I use some actual sound deadener in the m35a2 and it made a difference but was worried it won't in the humvee since the engine sits so close to the inside of the vehicle

My truck is still loud haha but definitely a lot less. Keeps the kids quiet in the back or at least I can’t hear them.
Without taking the body off the frame there is only so much you can do.

For those that care I downloaded a free app on my phone - dB meter - to record my decibels before and after the sound proofing doing. I have an 1165a1 hard top roof and aftermarket fiberglass doors.

highway speed -60-70mph- 90 dB
Country roads, take me home -35-45 mph - 85 dB
Idle - 76 dB

for reference my f150 is 68 dB going 80 on the highway.

I have only completed the passenger side floor so I can’t really say how much it’s worked.

That’s probably the best way to figure out effectiveness. I think I’ll do the same thing. Possibly from head height of passenger and driver side as that is where I keep my ears usually, as well as finding the loudest areas such as tunnel, foot well areas, and others…

Will post soon as I record them. Great idea.
