Been noticing a drop in mileage lately. Starts, idles and runs great. M1009 has 154,000 miles that I know of. Don't know the history of motor. Got it with 67,000 miles, whether its original IP and injectors or if odometer has gone over once is unknown. Considering getting a set of injectors to see if this is the cause and because I'm told its about time as they wear and it could cause serious engine damage.
So being up here in the Socialist republic of Canada, everything is well over twice the price. No one has injectors, they want me to take mine in for rebuilding and wait a couple of days. Since I buy everything from the great land down south. I would like to buy a set of injectors so that I can swap them in right away. I would like to avoid companies that have a core-charge due to the shipping. I've read through the relevant threads but thought I would throw this info out there for any input. I'm not looking for the cheapest price but dont want to splurge $500 if I can get a good proper set for half that.
One thread here mentioned Pensacola diesel; new injectors $189 no brand mentioned. no core charge. Here's the others I've found ; Accurate diesel ; remanufacured $170. but has a core charge-$80. / Badger diesel; rebuilt with bosch nozzles $145 has core charge-$96. / Mylex international; remanufacured with Italian nozzles(in their opininion atomize better than the OEM nozzles). $176. no core charge. / Found a seller on e-bay with brand new Delphi injectors $160. no core charge # 6704001 MILITARY NSN 2910-01-150-0950 I think these are OEM. So if you're knowlegeable on this matter, pipe up. Let me know what you think or if you have other sources.
Is there a difference between C-code and J-code nozzles. Do these companies that remanufacture pop test them. Is the minimum pressure 1500psi. If I buy the brand new Delphis does this mean I can just install them withought worrying if a rebuilder has been thorough and correct. There aren't any diesel shops around me so I would like to avoid having to find someone to test them.
I know I need new copper washers and probably a good idea to get a new return line kit. Badger diesel has German made braided line that requires no clamps. As well I'll need the 30mm injector socket, found a OTC 5060 Detroit Diesel Injector Socket for $39.00, does that sound about right price wise.
