Starter relay

Hello all,
So I’ve been looking into the doghead mod and thought “well I’ve had starter issues in the past, sometimes it can take a second to start spinning after I turn the key”. So I went to take a look and this is what I found.

can anyone tell me why someone would wire it in such a way?
I knew it wasn’t supposed to be like this so I went ahead with the mod and all is well.

The two purples were wired straight to one another . Idk just seemed really odd to me. It worked...
I’m glad to have discovered it and have made it “right”. The doghead mod only took about thirty minutes to complete. Thanks to all!

Has the truck been converted to 12 volts? If so that would explain why the wires cut and twisted together.

Yes it was, way before I bought it . Thank you very much.

Well hopefully that means that at least whoever converted it to 12v did it correctly
