This is my truck doing everything from doing excavation work, parade duty, earning it's keep pulling LVS Trailers, attending GA Rallies, teaching my boy's how to change a master and air pack, Funeral Procession duty behind the Patriot Guard Riders, Veterans Day Parade Duty, and lastly, Dec 23rd, 2009 when the Deuce first showed up at my house. It's been a great ride and much to my surprise, it has taken an early leap in the polls. We'll be around for quite a while thanks to a great group of MV Owners here on Steel Soldiers. I've made more friends here than just about anywhere else.

Markus (1943ht) sent me this write up on his halftrack:

1943 M16A2 Halftrack in mostly original condition. Recovered from East Africa in 2006 at personal expense. Was in service in Europe 1943 to 1945 (US Army).

Rebuilt in 1952 and sent to Korea along with 418 others. Was assigned to the 50th AAA AW SO from 1952 to 1954.

Transferred with three others to the French Army in 1954 and was in Vietnam 1954-1956.

Transferred from the French Foreign Legion in 1956 and sent to Somalia to put down a revolt. The track broke down in 1958 and was dragged out into the desert and left for scrap.

I, (1943ht) recovered the "African Queen" and brought her back to the states in 2006 while I was on a mission there.

The African Queen is currently located in Wisconsin and functional awaiting completion of the Maxim turret rebuild.

My 1967 M54A1 is still a current project and hopefully will be completed this year as a replica GunTruck. I purchased it from GSA out of the Maine Forrestry System. One noteable fact about this truck is that it actually served in the Vietnam war. As a Taiwan depot rebuild in 1974 and shipped back to the states where it was sent to a reserve unit. This trucks hood number (one on hood is the replica gun truck) put it in production from the factory, 46 trucks behind the Gun Truck "BORN LOOSER" and 11 ahead of the original gun truck "PROUD AMERICAN". An actual Vietnam Veteran truck will represent the highest decorated Gun Truck to serve in Vietnam, it was named "Brutus"

Much as I like all the vehicles, I know how hard mkcoen worked on the M37, including digging out several pounds of Israel from the chassis (so thick it included an Israeli bus token!).
And I have to stick with loyalty to a friend. :)

Cheers

My M927 is my first M927 so I dont have story for it yet, and Vin info thread has never replied with my request since 3 weeks so I dont even know why my info is taking forever :-( either. Or does it normally take that long, you know how being new at everything takes forever, somehow I am always new at everything I do and seems like I being new is taking forever.

storm51 m37 2.jpgstorm51 m37.jpgI love the very versatile M-37 completely redone several times by Storm 51. It is a Korea war era 3/4 ton pickup that we can all relate to and drive, with a top speed of 45 mph, but, it is a real rock crawler, and will probably pull your house off its foundation if you hook it up. It has so many different purposes and variants that give it a real cool factor as well, including the following;
M42 command truck
V-41 telephone maintenance vehicle, also M201
M43 ambulance
M56 tool truck, has a bumper-mounted winch
M152 enclosed utility truck, Canadian variant
R2 air field fire engine
V-126 truck, for AN/MPX-7 radar
M283 Long Wheel Base (LWB) Cargo Truck
MB2 Fire and Rescue Truck (M56 with Gichner body)
M506 truck, hydrogen peroxide servicer, PGM-11 Redstone

You just can't beat the dodge power wagon which is a great vehicle for kids to learn to drive or adults to ride proudly in a parade and celebrate life in the military, or life about the military. Just a fabulous bug eyed vehicle with total class, pulling power and stamina.

Besides, a vote for the M=37 is a vote for those Korean War vets, which should all be celebrated as well. STorm 51 uses this vehicle regularly, it is no hangar queen, but he has completely refurbished this machine over and over throughout the years and keeps it in a National level top notch condition so as he drives it regular, he shows it all all times proudly and in the best interest of MV's top condition everywhere. It's a real head turner.

1967 Kaiser Jeep M715 that I bought in Sept. of 2004 and began restoration in Dec. of 04' and rolled out of my shop April of 2005 all finished. Restoration was a complete frame off and every piece of metal was stripped to bare metal. This was my first MV and has led to my green iron disease which has led me to a total of 6 vehicles in my current motorpool. She is no trailer queen and I drive quite often, especially in the summer with the top down. In 2011 I displayed it at the Dayton MVPA Conv. and won a gold metal with it. Enjoy the pics and good luck to everyone as all the vehicles look great.

My 1970 Kaiser Jeep XM818 was my first 5-ton, bought from the MSNG at Camp Shelby, MS thru GL in June/July '09 with 147 mi/26 hrs. It now has around 4869 miles. While returning from Ft. Polk while recovering the M871 trailer 3 months later, the engine dropped a valve in the #3 cylinder. Nine months and $2800 later, I completed the recovery of the truck and trailer after having a mechanic rebuild the #3 & #4 cylinders.

I've been driving it constantly hauling hay and recovering trailers to the tune of about 1200 miles per year. I bought a M931A2 last year, which has taken over many of the longer trips due to the ease of driving through dozens of stop lights, but I still love gear jamming the XM818 and it continues to make 40 mile round trips hauling hay every couple of weeks (although recently sidelined waiting for a water pump replacement).

No tracks or armor, nothing fancy, just an honest working truck and trailer combination in their every day attire.

we are also most likely going to have one of our trucks at the Atlanta International Auto Show in March. We will be in there with Ferrari's, Lambo's, and every other car you can think of... wonder what those fancy folks will think when we pull through the doors! LOL

LOL. def not short selling, just know some guys like the original stuff and we do to. But we enjoy bringing these mean machines to a whole nother group of people who might not get into these trucks otherwise. We could not do what we do without this site and help from guys like you, Mack and Andrew to name a few. PS. if we win we might even give out a few free CCT T-shirts to a few of those who voted for us... FREE STUFF.. recent history shows that wins votes haha..
