I have won an M1082 trailer. Have not seen it in person yet. I can see in the auction photo that it has a fitting broken off where the air brake hose connects to the tow vehicle. Right where it comes out of the tongue frame rail. Not sure what I am looking at in the photo. If you own one can you give me some pointers as to what I need to fix it. It's about 400 miles away or I would go look myself. Thanks

Typical trailer glad hand set up. There's a 90 degree fitting coming out of the frame pointing forward then just the hose.

Ypu can "can" the air pods and pull the trailer with any vehicle. Look at the air pods, on the top is a rubber plug. Remove plug and insert the canning bolts, tighten the nut on the bolt and it will release the brakes.

I wouldn't say "any" vehicle. "Any" military vehicle of the 2.5 ton or higher variety should be no problem pulling an empty trailer with the brakes caged but if a State Trooper pulls over a F250 with a 9000lb trailer and no brakes you're likely going to be paying more for that than the trailer cost.

11-13-2014 Andrews place in Gorgia to Central Texas then to Louisiana.

F450 with only lights hooked up.

That's a prime example of what's not legal or safe to do .
On a positive note the brakes didn't work on the 750 trailer so even when pulling with the 818 I relied on the truck for stopping.

In regards to op and his trailer, when he cages the brakes on the trailer he will not have trailer brakes either. He will be in the same situation I was pulling the 750 with my F450.

I can transport it back to memphis for you. I can move it without it having brakes. I would just load it on my trailer. Just cause it has a broken fitting doesn't mean thats all that is wrong with the brake system.
