Heres a pic of me at 2am trying to figure out why i got stuck in 5th gear. Ive since replaced the worn out sliding shift gate and tightened/safety wired the set screws. Also replaced all the syncros while i had it apart.

Might be that all of us have belonged to that outfit at one time or another.
Glad you got it all back together - better than when it was "new to you".
Those little pieces of safety wire are pretty nice to have in place!

I've had a similar problem with my M35, but was able to slip the clutch to load and unload the transmission and get it out of gear that way. What I started doing was shifting it into neutral just before I stopped so everything in the transmission was still turning. That solved the problem.

The shift gate is cheap and retightening the set screws made a huge difference because they were all loose. Whoever did it last time didnt understand how the safety wire is supposed to hold the screw from loosening. Now i can feel the gears and it clicks into and out of gears very definitely. Its easy to get the top of tranny off as well.
