Don's bobbed deuce might be able to get in there without sinking. I bet you will be able to get in there no problem if you wait for your 53s to come and put them on the tractor.

Yeah, Shorty probably would get in and out, BUT no winch and no way to lift up the trailer.

Agreed on the 53's idea on the 5-ton, but that won't happen until next week.

Isn't it supposed to get below freezing tonight there? Maybe the ground will harden up enough?

Just an idea. If you have sheets of steel like someone said, place those under the trailer feet, lower your trailer on them. spray the steel down with some lithium grease so little friction will occure. Position your truck directly forward of your trailer. Take how ever many jacks it takes to lift the @$$ end off the ground. take two chains lay them between your duel rear wheels. Hook the chains into a hole in each wheel and you have yourself a duel whinch. Be sure the have the truck your using as the whinch hooked to another truck or something strong enough to withstand a tug or two. Ive done this with logging trucks. Be sure to take your time on this though. But like I said, its just an idea.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Take more photos and even better do VIDEO!!. Good luck with your pull man, hope all works out.

UPDATE:

It is OUT!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the commercial wrecker service (that gets the cranes out of the mud) come out with their homemade tow dolly, which was basically the rear half of a wrecked tractor w/a pintle hitch. They unhooked it & I hooked it to my John Deere tractor & backed it under the front of the M872. We lowered the M872 onto it & then had to winch the M872 while it was resting on the dolly, so it kingpin would attach.

The air brakes on the trailer were locked, so they had to crawl underneath the M872 & cage the brakes. Then they proceeded to winch it across the field. The ground was EXTREMELY soft again & if I had not have dumped 4-5 loads of large rocks into the ruts they had to go through....I am sure the dolly would have sunk.

They got all the way across the field, unhooked the dolly, then moved the M872 w/the wrecker, so it would line up with my driveway. Now a commercial tractor can back right under it & drive off.

The BEST $350 I have spent in a looooooooong time!

Those are really cool pictures! The videos are nice too. You really get a feel for how soft the ground is. Looks like a dolly could come in handy every so often.

I saw a slideshow once of a heavy wrecker like that getting stuck, and buried BAD. I'll see if I can find it, talk about a heck of a day.

I wish I had seen this earlier but I was out of town. I could have brought my 197 over with some tools and probably gotten that out for you with a lot less headache. You mentioned the wrecker service had to cage the brakes. That trailer may have a jostling valve on the left side of the frame just in front of the front axle. If there is air in the tanks, pressing the valve in will release the brakes so one can move the trailer without connecting it to an air source. For instance when loading out for a ship. Three of my 129s have them.

8 or 10 of the single axle tow dollys went through GL a couple weeks back in GA. But......I like the way the towing company had this one set up.....I know it would hold a lot more weight, but I am sure it would cost a LOT of $$$ just for the 2 axles, hitch, & frame!

But....yes.....I do have yet another toy on my list of things that I "need"
