I got my M929 home and it has the remains of a radio (speaker) and the antenna mount. Since I'm not a radio enthusiast, I'm wondering if there is a radio set that would be usable for my civilian use. Any suggestions?

Most military radios are wideband radios and they don't play well with civilian narrowband radios like the Icoms and Yaesus. They will talk to each other but usually you get a lot of audio distortion that negates the value of radio comms. You didn't say what your planned "civilian use" is but if your going to use them to talk to other MV people with military radios you should go online and practice up on the amateur radio technician license exams. A couple of evenings practice and you can get a tech license that will allow you to use your radios legally.

Thanks Kurt, I am not interested in much more than a CB and with today's modern phones, don't have a need. I'm sure I would feel different if this were a bug out vehicle for our approaching WW3 (that we seem determined to provoke).

Maybe a CB or shortwave and FM or some modern broadband.
