She lives! Finally I suppose dried out enough with the intake open and glow plugs out it spun over again with the starter. Screwed back in the plugs and she fired right over pushin' about 5g of water out the exhaust. Back to the mud today!

Glad to hear that "she lives."

Two suggestions:

1. Be sure the drain plugs are installed before deep water operations.
2. Always carry fishing tackle so you have something to do while waiting for a tow.

At least it had a "U" in the description, but somehow I don't think that the CUCV was ever considered to be a true submersible..... Remember to open the door panels and air all those spaces out, otherwise you'll have a Katrina mobile.
(It will be od inside with mold).
I'd wade it next time to see if the truck can make it, or call in a chinook to lift you over....

Did almost the same thing to one in Honduras many years ago. We just pulled the glow plugs and spun her over for a few seconds then put the plugs back, fired it up and away we went. It ran like crap for a day or so, but after that was running normal. It took much longer for the insides to dry out. We had to leave the windows down overnight or it would be a rain forest in the morning.
