Supersingle questions

I was looking through the M35A3 manuals, and they call for 14.50x20 Michelin Radials for the supersingles. I had been under the impression that the deuce used 11x20's for that application.
Question: If you choose to run the 14.50x20's, where do you get the wheels?
2nd: Will they fit the steer axle without getting into the springs and the frame?
3rd: Is it just a better bet to run the 11x20's on stock rims and be done with it?
I have always liked the look of the supersingle, and since I plan on using my future deuce for a daily driver, they make sense from a mileage standpoint. It will probably boil down to what is the easiest and cheapest.
Last: can anyone post a pic of their deuce with supersingles?

You have a couple choices for super singles on the deuce. Primary options include 1100x20 NDCC, 14.5R20, or 395/85/R20. There are obviously differences in the tread, height and width. Not to mention bias vs. radial. The 1100s and 14.5s are about the same height (43") and the 395s are about 4" taller and a couple inches wider.

I put the 395s on my deuce and love it. More speed, better traction, and 3" more ground clearance. I also went to custom beadlocks to get other advantages such as run-flat capability and do-it-yourself tire change. No clearance or turning issues with the 47" tires. I wouldn't recommend anything bigger.

You can run stock split rims with the narrower tires. Just be sure to flip your rear hubs.

I have another set I need to part with if you get interested. Here are some pictures. I also have 20 brand new 1100s NDCC, $75 each.

M1075, you state "I have another set I need to part with if you get interested." Is the "set" of tires or rims? What sizes? I am trying to decide on a wheel and tire combo and I am browsing the options.

I post a pic of a Deuce on supersingles. I don't know anything exeprt that it is a Duch truck and I wish I had one too.
If you look at Dakar 2005 you will see that supersingles is the only choice but I personally think Deuce is a ten wheel truck. My M35 was M34 when I bought it.

I basically have two complete "sets" of beadlock rims and an assortment of tires. One set of rims is brand new, never assembled, and one set is like new. The like new set has the Michelin 395/85R20 mounted (as pictured). The new set can be mounted with 395s or 90%+ Michelin 15.5/80R20 (Same size tire, but higher weight rating and 18 ply). Here is what I am looking at on the prices:

2 Piece Beadlock Rim $
Michelin XML 395/85R20 70% $
Michelin XML 395/85R20 90% $
Michelin Pilote 15.5/80R20 90% $

I guess we were posting at the same time! The rims were made to run the 47" tall and 15.5" wide super singles (either the 395s or the 15.5s). The backspacing is perfect so the outside of the tire aligns with the outside of the fender/bed and there is room for turning. I flipped the rear hubs so everything would line up. I need to get a picture posted of my truck with the singles. Let me be the first to tell you, it looks and drives awesome! Best upgrade to date.

I like the look of Loghunters truck on supersingles. The 11x20 radials look like they fit the bill nicely. They are not too hard to find, and fitting stock rims is a big plus!

Years ago, when I was a kid driving dumptrucks, we ran 10x20's on military wheels on the backs of our Ford dumpers. We had about 1" between the tires under 18,000 lb load, and that was as close as we dared run. 11x20's would be close, but as long as you kept the load under 10,000 lbs, you would probably be alright. if the tires were touching with a load on the truck, they would heat up and fail. If you are using your deuce as a road runner, I don't think that there would be a problem running 11x20 duals.
I just happen to like the look of the super singles, and it makes it a little easier to maneuver in tight places.

The 1100s I have are the original bias Non Directional Cross Country (NDCC) tread. I saw some nice 1100s Michelin XL radials on ebay recently. I think they went for a little over $1000/set.

M1075-- if you go to the texas GL site you will see that the base up near texarkana is gettig rid of almost 200 pallets of super single bias and radial tires abuot 3-4 tires per pallet. they have them in" lots " 15-50 pallets per lot. i bid on one of the lots which has 25 pallets of 14x20 bias and 395/85r20 all tires rated by drmo as 90% tread life left. hope my bid is accepted.
