You might also check your fuel pickup sock in the tank.
These have been known to cause fuel delivery problems when they get clogged.

Just a thought.

Changed fuel filter today. Surging was real bad last night when I picked up the truck, very high idle upon first start.

Cut the old filter open.... should have cleaned off the bandsaw but didn't. Looked pretty clean between the pleats, the trash on the cut surface was picked up by the blade or the black plastic of the WIX filter. Hard to tell for sure but I'm gonna go with not the issue.

Had a similar problem. Ended up being a cracked vaccume line between the ip and tranny. Was right at the ip. Cut 1" off the hose and lt has been fine since. Not sure how a non computer tranny and injection system would act that way but no problems since fixing the hose
