Swapping a gas 350 into a M1009

Hi All,

I have a 85 M1009 (TH400 and NP208) with about 35000 miles and no engine. The diesel engine was pulled before I got it. I want to keep the stock TH400/NP208 in the unit.

I bought an 88/89 350 blazer with a 700r4 and NP241(I think) to use as an organ donor. The electrical, cooling, and exhaust conversions are something within my knowledge base, but I know nothing about what I’ll have to do about the transmission/torque converter issues.

Can anyone tell me what I’m getting into. Can I use the converter from the M1009? Will there be some vacuum modulator issues? Can I use the original radiator with the transmission oil cooler? Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

Drop it in :) The TH400 should bolt right up, and work perfect. The radiator might work, not sure on how things will line up.

seems like a good idea to me, what with the price of diesel now, and as such an easy drop in it should give you a sufficient amount of power

OP probably won't see this since he was last seen in 2011. But that old 350 is probably still running, somewhere.

Feet: ' Inches: ".
Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine.
Otherwise, the info is still relevant for someone doing this swap.
