Tailgate Rubber Bumpers

I saw these in Saturns Deuce parts and was wondering where do they go ? Dont beleieve I ever saw any before, what do they look like ? $12.00 each

Hi, Thats why I posted, what does it look like ? There was no picture of one that was for sale, only the name and part number. I was wondering if anyone has heard of tail gate bumpers and where did they fit and look like ?

I was wondering if the hole in the center of the rear bumperetts was possibaly a place for a tail gate bumper ????? I never seen a tail gate bumper before is why I ask.

The bumpers attach to the tailgate and when the tailgate is completely down they rest against the bumperettes. This is so when the tailgate is down and you put your foot in the step on the bumper, the bumper can't move and provides a reasonably stable way to get into the bed of the truck. I don't understand why, but this appears to be a dropside only item......... Perhaps the taller height of the tailgate on a dropside?

Sorry, in you first post you said you saw these, but I see now you saw a part number. Too quick on the draw.

Since this old thread has good reference pictures of a dropside bed and M105 tailgate rubber bumpers, I thought I would show how I added bumpers to my non-dropside deuce (A2).

I saw these for sale on Eastern Surplus and thought I'd see how well, if at all, they'd work out on my truck:

My tailgate didn't have the same mount points as shown in clinto's photos. I didn't want to mount them to the top edge of my tailgate either as they'd be in the way of the rear cargo cover flap.

The threaded bolt shaft was pretty short (sorry, I didn't measure length), but was _just_ long enough to bolt to the bumperettes with an internal toothed lock washer and a slim nut. With zero threads to spare.

3/8" hole centered 4 3/4" left/right and 1 5/8" (the width of the hex back of the rubber bumper) from the bottom.


I'm rather pleased with them!

Here's another option I've found on Eastern Surplus, $2.50 each at the time of this posting, and they look to have longer threaded shafts.
