Whos the knucklehead engineer that thought putting that tank there was a good idea?

Why specify that you were looking on GL? Why not just ask the question? Now, anyone who did not know that there was a winch A3 on GL is looking for it. Trust me...I have found plenty of trucks because guys on here posted about them. Just because the info is on the GL site DOES NOT mean that everyone knows about it.

Adding "GL" to your post did nothing to help you get a response. However, it did tell people that there are M35A3s w/w on GL (and probably right now). If what you wanted to do was to notify people to increase your competition (or the competition that someone else will have), you may have done that. Most guys know about GL. However, that does NOT mean that everyone who knows about GL is aware of everything that comes up. I have been alerted by this list of items that I missed because of posts. I look at GL religiously and I miss stuff. Trust me when I say that there are guys on this list who are not as thorough as me and they miss trucks all the time. I am sure you meant no harm and I would guess that you did not break any rules. I was only pointing something out for future consideration.

Unlikely. Most of the gear heads were in Society of Automotive Engineers at the university level. There are 2 major competitions where the students build vehicles for racing. The mini-baja is off-road. They are all gear heads at heart.

Sounds like somebody doesn't want the competition on the a3s;-) Don't worry, most of us have no interest in a truck with an automatic transmission and a Cat diesel. Though big truck companies do because they are a cheap replacement engine. Buy the truck, yank the drive train and scrap the rest. That is why even the Junky ones sell high. A Recon Cat costs upwards of 10K.

Dont worry, just poking a little fun. I will say this though, there have been many a time when working in the field Ive wanted to take the prints to which ever engineer drew them up and ask them just what the hell they were thinking.

Cat 3126

I think the 3A has the Cat 3126 motor in it and most small road trucks had the Cat 3126 or the Cummins 5.9 as a option. I had a 3126 in my Freightliner and it was a DOG with a 7 speed trans.
No big demand for that motor in my book.

Yeah the mixer I drive has one in it, it is slow as mud, but dependable and painted yellow and marked Cat;-) The company I drive for loves them in both dumps and mixers and frequently buy entire trucks just for the spare motor. They just swap them out if one goes bad, it is that fastest way to get the truck back on the road.

I have the same question. When the hole shown got muddy, the tank hit the dirt everytime. I also question the ctis engineer even if system worked - it might have been great for sand dunes and roads but go through the woods much and you'll need a plumbing license.
