I remember that article in PS, it mentioned shipping at around $1000 back then. That's when I first got interested in military vehicles.:roll: I also remember getting a brochure for bidding on a "land train" located in South America.:drool:

Thanks for posting these. I've seen both an M39 & M74 that had been "bathtub'd" for life outside the Military. I remember SEAECO down in Augusta, Ga used to repurpose M114s & M75 APCs as log skidders at least up into the mid/late 1990s. Sad I know but look at it this way, at least (part of) the vehicle survives to be eventually restored by someone down the road. Instead of the vehicle as a whole being either used as a hard target or used to form artificial reefs.
