Tire Sizes, A2/A3?

Found a used tire place near us that has slightly used Military 12.50 x 20 Michelin's for $125 each. Is this the tire size on the M35A3?

I assume that we would need the bigger A3 style rims if we went with these?

We were actually looking for 11.00 x 20's to replace the 9.00 x 20's on one of our M35A2's when we found the 12.50 x 20's, and no they didn't have any A3 style rims.

A3 tire size

No, A3s have the bigger 14.5R20s. Better look for that size if you want to go singled on the rear axles.

The 12.5R20s are not recommended for - but "can be mounted" on - stock Deuce rims and be used as duals on the rears. Before buying, keep in mind their actual rolling radius is slightly less than the stock 9.00-20.

So, you're saying that the M35A3 actually has 14.5 x 20's and that I can get the 12.5 x 20's and dual them out on a M35A2?

Will there be issues with the duals "touching" each other with 12.5 x 20's?

We've been told that if we ran 11.0 x 20's that the duals could touch with potential problems at a grass fire where debris can be caught in the duals.

YES and YES you "can"!

Depends on TP and load. There was at least one member here running them as duals. (Sorry, can't find that thread with pics now.)

In your case I would go for 11.00-20 or 11.00R20s as Bob H suggests and gain both, ground clearance and a little more room between inner and outer tires. They won't rub for sure but.... no matter which duals, debris can always "find a way" to get caught up between them.

It seems you are still having tire issues with your "1600 tires" thread. I see no advantage to running 12.5's either, single or dual, unless they are free.
I know where I can buy new 1600's cheap also and haven't run to buy any because I don't need them or the issues they cause running them. On my singled 6x6 and my bobb'd 4x4 I have settled on 395's although my trucks running 43" tires,(11's and 14.5's), seem happier powerwise.
Here's a pic of 1100R20's on stock deuce wheels carrying a load of at least 10 tons. They don't touch.

Useful tire guide below.
