What trailer would I want to tow behind a M1008? Are the Humvee trailers the better option? I am looking primarily to haul camping gear. Thanks in advance!

M101A1 or M101A2 are the cheapest. The Humvee trailers are still expensive. The M105s are too big

I would shoot for the M101A2. Shares the same wheels/ tires at the M1008 (assuming it's stock). Sits a little lower too. The M101A3 does have 55" between the inner fender wells vs 45" for the M101A2.

If you get a M101A1 or the original M101, the wheels on them are 5-lug Power Wagon wheels, while the M1008 pickup uses 8-lug standard rims. I'm not saying you shouldn't get a M101A1, they are great trailers, just if you end up getting one, you will have to carry a spare tire/wheel for the truck, and a spare tire/wheel for the trailer too.

Find a 101A2, best bet with your truck. Has surge brakes and hand brakes too!

Add a set of GM five spoke rims and it will match your truck perfect!

What part of Ohio are you located?
There is a nice 101A2 listed on pittsburgh craigslist.

Another alternative for a camping supply trailer is the pioneer tool trailer. Not great for sleep quarters but it is great for supplys. This one is M116A2 based.
