transfer lever button

Anybody have a wiring diagram of the transfer case shift lever button wiring? My button depresses but I get no air release on the rear transfer case valve. I've looked at the wiring but it appears to have too many wires going to ground like someone fooled with it. My front axle air switch on the dash works fine as does the switch on the front of the transfer case that would engage the front axle when the transfer case would go into low.
Where is this button switch picking up power from or is it a go to ground deal ? Thanks

Check the TMs. But the trans has to be in neutral as well or the release will not function.

The Trans shifter linkage has to be properly adjusted. Just a little off and no power to the t-case button. Try this. With the engine off and the tranny in neutral, push the button on the t-case lever. You should hear the solenoid clicking. If not, while depressing the button, move the tranny lever a little back and forth. If you hear clicking then, your tranny linkage needs adjustment. The adjustment is made at the tranny. There is no adjustment in the shifter tower so no need to take that apart. (I know that now!!)

I believe there is a fuse under the dash by the steering column that feeds the tranny neutral switch. If that switch works right, power is then fed to the button, then to the solenoid.

by the way this is an 85 general m923 a1.
I read another post that said you should be able to shift the transfer case before the air pressure builds up to hold the lever detent in place ????
