Rick,

Can you post some pics of your Trucklite Flood light install you did on one of your trucks. I bought a set and I am trying to figure out how to mount them up front on the grill guard.

I never installed any Truck Lite flood lights. I bought the Truck Lite LED sealed beam headlamps. The other M1009 has KC Day lighters on it.

OK, I thought it was your truck that had the Trucklite Floods on her. They won't fit in the grill guard and I am thinking about cutting two of the cross pieces out so they can fit. If anyone has any other suggestions or ideas, please post.

Are you talking about the big 7" lights?
Thats a big light.
TL makes a smaller version that would fit much better. No cutting required

005.jpg023.jpg002.jpg001.jpgThese are my K C Daylighters. They are 1.3 million CP each. They were 24 volt I sent them back to KC and had them converted to 12 volt. These pictures of my Crown of Thorns M1009 are pre LED headlamps. I have HID headlamps in these pictures. I cut the bar out to install these lights and welded the bar back in on the headlamp side. I also constructed mounts for the KC Daylighters that would require the brush guard to be removed to remove the KC Daylighters. I figured if they have that much time and ambition. I can't stop them anyway. Cordless sawsall and they be gone. My Son Jr USMC sent these home from Iraq. They were on an burnt out MRAP. They work great and are very bright. They worked fine on 24 volt but the ballast went out on one and they have a 23 year warranty. I returned 1 and they fixed it and ask for the second one. they said they had few of these returned and liked the opportunity to examine one that was used in the desert. It was a N/C repair. They have carbon fiber housings and all stainless steel hardware.

Whut fer, Rick? Seems to me that it would have been better to just run them 24v. Tap into the 24v buss bar at the firewall, add a simple relay and switch, and you're good to go.

KC had the one light to fix replace the ballast and the repair center emailed me and ask if I wanted the other one rebuilt. I said yes. Since my Son sent these to me from Iraq I wanted them to be part of a permanent family possession. I will never sell them or let them go with a vehicle. The repair center suggested I convert them to 12 volt. They would be better. I never ask what better meant. And they were rebuilding them at N/C. I said fine. I had them wired 24 volt a few years. I sent the pair in and they converted them. I thought that is great. Someday I will NOT have a CUCV and I can use them on anything I own that is 12 volt. I will no longer have any CUCV's some day. I know it is a reality. I am liking new trucks. I see a new one coming in 2019.

I'm using deuce buckets and 25v 450 watt aircraft landing lights, so 900 watts altogether. I had to pick up a solenoid because the relays I had couldn't handle the load.

I don't know the candlepower, but it's probably more than anything you'll get from KC.

That's the install ! I want to mount my floods in the same manner. Looks like some cutting will be involved, but I liked that set up you had. IIRC, those KC's were fairly large, correct?

Interesting set up. Did you custom make those brackets?

The KC's POD's are large and deep light. I had a bad grille and I cut it even more to allow the lights to set back in. I left the lenses protrude about an inch past the steel. The right one pasted the test taking a direct hit at 65 MPH of a deer. The score was Crown of Thorn's M1009 1 hard hit WIN. The deer 1 hard hit crushed skull and 4 broken legs. It was a nice 6 point buck. Made a nice meal for the forest creatures. But yes I can look for a set of mounting brackets. the ones I used I carefully shopped the scrap pile for. I ended up using Mitsubishi Fuso tail lamp brackets. Very heavy 3/16" angle with a gusset. I am a scrap picker. And I think about ideas all the time.(scary) Cutting the brush guard is no big problem. If it was required to return to stock. which I doubt. I never seen any CUCV's at Barret Jackson. It is simple flat bar that can be bought or made and returned to OEM specs. I still have a special brush guard to make up for Mr Crusty.DSCF7349.jpg
