My markings were painted over but with spray can paint - lacquer thinner cleaned it off, and the UIC numbers on mine are a carc paint that doesn’t wipe off.

interesting. The picture I posted was labeled as 3RD battalion 5TH Marines and there was a 3/5 painted on the hood, Here is a link to the picture of my truck. Note the yellow 3/5 on the jack.

Anything from 3/5 would have a UIC between M11181 and M11187. If the black mark in your picture is an L, Lima 3/5 would have UIC M11187.

M00880 is MACS-1 MACG-38. Or in plain terms, Marine Air Control Squadron 1, Marine Air Control Group 38, based on MCAS Yuma, AZ

Anyway, there is the information as laid down by the Marine Corps, whether or not you choose to accept it is up to you.
