Turret K-Bar with M1151A1?

The parts TM is quite confusing and I am not seeing how the forward hatch latch works with a K-Bar installed. Were K-Bars only installed in certain turrets and am I trying to fit a square peg in a round hole? With the K-Bar installed, my forward latch will not fully secure properly. The pic shows extra washers because I was experimenting with the spacing.

A thick spacer goes under hatch latch.

As Greg said…need a 3/4in spacer under the latch.
