With a .8314 5th gear it will be buzzing along, with my .61 6th I am turning about 2250@80MPH, a quick cal. says you should be turning a little over 3000RPM, it should sound real nice!!
I ran a 475HP tune and was not able to break anything, but it was just too much fun and it was going to get me in trouble, being able to bust the tires loose at 30MPH is a blast but the thing immediately tries to swap ends, also my intercooler is a little small and the EGTs were running high so I am just running a 365HP stock tune now, I can still take any 4wd off the line that I have come across and it is still more fun than the law allows.
I will someday get off my butt and install DSP5 so I can switch tunes on the fly but I am way behind on my projects as it is at this time.

I have not really followed the salvage MB prices but would assume they would not be as high as most would guess, I WILL be paying more attention NOW!

Is there a pic of the removed gutless wonder in the scrap bin where they should have been placed the day they left the factory ?

Considering it’s about time for first fire I figured I could make a thread about it.

Picked up a 998 with a blown motor

Did the thing

Went back and forth on what I wanted to drop in, wasn’t interested in any of the usual suspects so I picked up this

Then did this

Are the power steering lines from the cooler and the hydro boost lines returns? Basically can I just dump them both back into a reservoir. It looks like that’s how it’s set up but just double checking.

Here is a schematic with a winch, not too hard to figure out what it would be like without, but yes there are two returns to the reservoir.
Without the winch there is just a single high pressure line going from the hydro-boost to the steering gear.

And since you have no hydraulically controlled fan clutch the cooler would return directly to the reservoir, or directly from the steering gear without a cooler.
