Well, I am in the process of replacing the entire brake system, lines, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, EVERYTHING. So, I'll have a fresh, uncontaminated system. Since there will be NO brake fluid in the system, and never has had any put in it previously, would you all recommend DOT 5? If so, why?

I don't know of any advantage Dot 5 has over Dot 3 except it doesn't absorbe water, Dot 5 is also about 5-6 times more expensive! Did you stay with the original mc?

It depends on how you drive your truck. The military went with the DOT 5 because at the time most of the vehicles didn't see a lot of use and any water in the system was trapped.
If you drive your truck regular go with DOT 3. Wayne
