Hey fellas,

I have an M35a2c but one of my dream MV's has always been a Studebaker US6. I finally found one while visiting a SS member at his hanger last weekend. I almost jumped out of his deuce at when I saw her. From what I can tell she id super clean for an old "Lend Lease" truck. I took a bunch of picks for your enjoyment.
I found very little rust, the bed is clean and intact, the cab and cab floor are in great shape. the Hercules JXD looks like it would fire right up. This thing is cleaner than my M35 when I bought her.
My SS buddy has found the owner and he is willing to sell. I know that I am probably looking at her through rose colored glasses right now. What I need to know from you guys is what is she worth before I enter into negotiations with this fella. Thanks. Glenn

Considering its age, it looks to be in remarkable shape! Nice find!! Hopefully it's got a good title...

If you don't buy it, I am loading up the towbar and heading West on Sunday!

It has the wrong bed on it and the right beds are hard to find but man, that thing is a lot nicer than what a lot of people start with.

Wait till Lowriderbrd sees it.............

Driveshafts are out AND a couple axles are out. I am guessing you might be looking at something locked up. It is in amazing condition though.

Thanks fellas, by the way does any one have an idea as to what the truck would be worth in it's present condition. Let me rephrase that. What should I offer for the truck.

At least a couple grand but if you don't have tin skills the back of the cab and pass door are going to take some $$$ to repair. That is is the only unrestored 6 that I have seen with a straight roof, fenders and grill. I would jump on it, but I have been looking for years for one that straight.

I think scrap value plus maybe a couple hundred bucks.

Although it's well preserved, it's still a major, ground up restoration.

See: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cckw/62431-pics-studebaker-us6.html

Also, the early deuce forum is for the GMC M135/211 series. The US6 should go in the CCKW forum.

Go buy this thing man!

Yep, she's nice and mostly there. No/minimal rust is a plus--running gear missing is a BIG minus.
Bed is wrong and as stated above, looks like a M135 bed. The correct bed is very hard to find anymore. They shared the same beds with the CCKW.
Looks like the data plates inside the cab are missing?? The Serial number is on a rivited plate on the left side frame rail at the steer axle. If that is still there, and has an "R" on it --you have just hit the jackpot-- the "R" if I remember correctly, means that it is a REO built Studer. Really rare. (psstt-no need to bother the current owner with these small details:whistle:)
I also notice the windshield wiper motors/wipers are mounted in the cab. This shows the truck to be an "early" model. The "later" models had the wipers/motors mounted in the windshield frames. I have not a clue the breakover point between old/new models:???:.
Start with scrap price for about 11,000 pounds. Actually I would start with $750.00 as it needs a LOT to make it anywhere near it's former glory.
If it has a good title--buy it regardless--someday you will be VERY happy you did.

All of the above is just my 2 cents worth--your mileage may vary----------

Yes it is a M135 bed. You could swap a M211 or even a M35 bed and get away with it as they are close to the WWII beds. Unless it is a wood bed. That a whole differnet animal. I would offer what you think is fair. If it was me I would start at $1500 and go up from there but I would not go any higher than 3K. Good luck!

I've been doing a little looking around for parts for this US6. It seems as though there are a few sites out there but not many. Has anyone done a full body off on one of these that could let me know how hard it is to find parts.

I had already decided before I started this post. This is the truck I always wanted. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be taken for a ride on the price. I may have to sell a kidney to afford it but I'll make it work some how. I'm going visit with the owner on Saturday.
