Ok That was great When do we all get to drive Should we all get numbers Rory maybe you should try a trade yours for his Even up.
Rory has worked just as hard to make his just the way he wants it as I have mine...we both have a vision, and each of us are determined to get there. Plus Rory's has already got Textron's attention

Buy the way Myself and 2 other Vets. from Veitnam who were with the 630 MP Co convoy escort went and drove Rory this summer (there was 5 of us all together) it had been about 40+ yrs. Rory told one of the guys if he could start it we could drive it. It took all of about 15 seconds for him to have it started. Rory was so great and we had a good time we hope to do it again. And by the way I like the org. You have both done great jobs Any one who can bring back to life a V-100 Get A Job Well Done Vietnam Vet 1970-71

Louie, I was honoured to have you guys drive my V around! It was really great to see the looks on everyone's faces.

And yes on the vision for what we do with our vehicles. WGT has done amazing work to convert his V into his dream machine.
Mine, though a documented Vietnam veteran, is restored to its operating condition with the Marines in the late 70's/early 80's (also documented history for mine). As you guys pointed out, there were differences in how mine is equipped versus how y'alls were, but it is as accurate and original to that one period as I can make it.
Several of the other folks working on Vs are doing them in Vietnam era 'correctness' (including Dave/HellonwheelsV100, and JimK, plus several other folks on here) and knowing that influenced me to go ahead with what I chose.
To each his own dream, and yet all complementary to each other. [thumbzup]

I would love to get all 17 or so that I know about together one day, because it would be a great historical retrospective.

Cheers

Rory I would like to see pictures of all 17 of the V s. That would be great. What you gentlemen have done is nothing short of..........( I don't have the words for it) We were ask one time why run convoys and reply was "well, we just like doing our thing". Which is what each and everyone of yous are doing with the Vs. Have a Great Christmas and a Merry New Year.

DR, just a guess, but he did mention a light bar at the beginning of the thread. Maybe mounting points for said bar?

Excellent job BTW. That welding is sure well done.

Thank you, and you are correct...they are light bar support legs

Here's the latest add-on...a roller tipped Micro Switch mounted to the transfer case that will be used to power up LEDs on the dash in order to show 2WD and 4WD positions. It's probably a good thing to be sure about before you romp down on the accelerator :p

Here’s the back side of the cover for the low frequency speakers just below the winch. The brackets will allow four LEDs to be recessed for that “clean look”
The whole thing will be sandblasted and powder coated prior to assembly

Wow. Been tinkering on the 1009 but nothing like this. When I win the lottery and decide on a killdozer, we'll be in touch. Can't wait to see another test drive or a cannon even.

Thank you!
Here we are fitting the last of the engine compartment covers. This is also the area that the air conditioning and heating for the crew compartment will be mounted.

Here's a shot after we modified the air conditioning and heating unit to fit on the back wall. Had to shorten the top by 1-1/4" and relocate the condensate drain on the bottom. Another last minute mod was to split the transfer case cover so we wouldn't need to go through an act of congress to service the transfer case. Next we cut the holes for the AC and heater lines, then off for powder coating.

Sorry, the idea keeps resurfacing in my head even though I saw it drive fine. Does the engine on the one side make the v100 heavy to that side?

Yes, the v100s and v150s are heavy on that side. Next time you see one, you may notice that it will lean to the left. I put heavier leaf springs on that side to level it back out on the vehicles I rework.
