Veteran's Day Parade - Norman OK

I won't be able to come. My 15 yr. old grandson wants me to go a veterans program at his school, so I'll be going that way instead.

It is a week away for the Norman Veteran's Day Parade. We are providing rides for the Blue Star Mothers and Women Veterans of Oklahoma.

Spent the afternoon yesterday getting the deuce ready for the parade. Changed the oil, greased everything, and gave it a good look-over. It looks like we are going to have a great turnout. I can't wait.

Okay here is the Executive Desision for the day.

We will meet at the East parking lot of the Norman High School at 0745hrs. Kick the dirt for a few minutes and then convoy to the staging area. I'm still waiting word of where that will be.

We may have to change to another site instead of the High School. I will let you know.

The high school parking lot is at Main St and Pickard Ave. (911 W. Main)

The starting point for the parade is six blocks east at Eufaula St and James Garner Ave, next to the train station. The parade starts at 0845hrs.

I have heard that there are over 100 entries in the parade and they have to get all of them 2 miles south by 1045 so the AirForce Fly-by can happen at 1100hrs.

This is the first Veterans Parade in Norman in the last 63 years so everyone will need to be flexable. THERE WILL BE CHANGES so just go with the flow.

Hey Warthog, as you know I'm hauling the Oklahoma Women Veteran Org. in the parade. The parade folks told us the staging will be at the corner of Eufaula and Jenkins. With as many trucks as you have lined up your idea of a little pre-staging sounds great. Looks like there is going to be a great turn out. See you there.

I have just finished a recon mission and here are the details:

0745 - Meet at the highschool
0755 -Travel east on main street to James Garner - next to railroad tracks
0800 - Decorate trucks and find our riders
0845 - parade starts, we are entry #35
Procede 2 miles south to Reeves park - follow directions to parking
1100hrs - fly by and opening ceremony at Veterans Memorial
after ceremony proceed southwest 2 miles to Rudy's BBQ for chow
