I know the only surviving Vietnam gun truck is Eve of Destruction, at the Army Transportation Museum at Ft. Eustis, VA. There might be one or two still in Vietnam on display at a state-owned motor pool (pile) of captured USA armor (not sure about that but I have heard rumors). However, my question is: how many replica Vietnam gun trucks are out there in the USA that have been built up over the past several years by MV collectors? To include 1/4-ton, 3/4-ton, 2.5-ton, and 5-ton variants...

There was a reasonably well done 1/4 ton( M151A1) at the MVPA National at Ft. Lee, VA. in 2001. I do not know who owned it.

As for the rumor of any types surviving in VN. None are known to exist other than "Eve". During the pull out, all existing gun truck were turned over to ARVN forces and some Vets that I had talked to had witnessed many of them get stripped of their guns and steel and used them as regular trucks. I have had dreams in the past of going to VN and finding a bed being used as a animal pen, but dare to dream.

The Proud American Replica Guntruck is located in Columbus, Georgia. She made her maiden run down to our museum on 12 March 2007. On the same day, but 36 years after she was hit.
She will be at the Guntruck Rally in August

Mad Dog, thank you so much for posting those pics of The Angel, Untouchable and my Aces & Eights. That is the best group of pics I have seen of our gathering at Gilbert 2007. Now that we're all running out of fuel money, I don't know when we will be together again. She just sits in the barn now. JT. PS, you will be part of my crew when it really hits the fan.

you know its funny about the stacking the sandbags between the hillbilly armor and the ammo cans on the floor. We were doing the same thing in 2004/2005 in Al Anbar province iraq before we got all the armor. We are still doing similar stuff here now in the guntrucks we use everyday here. I would post some pics but i cant sorry.

When we got IEDed in 2004 it was the armor our maintenance guy welded under the front wheel well that kept us from getting killed from the anti-tank mine.

I guess things really dont change too much when you get down to it.
