Sorry if this belongs somewhere else.....did a couple of searches no luck.

I am looking at this truck, 1GCHD34J4GF316102, 2 questions, does it have a NP205 case , and does it have the limited slip front diff?

4 is body type-2 door cab
J is Chev 6.2 Diesel
4 is the check digit
G is the model year
F is the paint code
and the next six are the production sequence number beginning at 100001

to answer your questions, you must look at the options sticker in the glove box or on the top of the driver's fender liner under the hood.... The RPO codes are usually 3 digits like AA3 is for tinted glass...

What is the NSN of your 1028A1?, if its the same as the one I posted, what T-case and front axle config (open or limited slip) do you have?

if its a m1028, then it does indeed have the np205 and the detroit truetrac posi unit in the front axle.

It is probably an M1028 VIN, if you can trust the listing. The NSN is not a CUCV NSN, it is a generic 1-ton truck NSN. The DRMO site must have been lazy.

This truck WILL NOT have the NP205. It has the NP208. But, it *should* have a Dana Trac-Lok in the front axle, if it's an M1028.

Only the M1031 had the NP205. Since the M1028A1 is a converted M1031, it does too. As does the M1028A2 (a dually converted M1028A1).

I should add that I've never confirmed it through looking at the original contract, but I don't believe there were any factory produced M1028A1's, which is why I say it isn't an M1028A1, thus no NP205...

My M1028a1 is sort of an M1031, it has the NP205, the sticker in the glove box lists it as a cab and chassis. The door has M1028. It was (when I bought the truck) a contact service unit. I put a pickup bed on it from a M1008 parts truck.

If it was a contact maintenance truck, it was an M1031, hence the 205 and the cab/chassis RPO. The M1028A1/A2 were MWO's for an M1031.

The door plate is really pretty meanigless. My M1009 is an M1028, according to the door and my M1028A1 was an M1009, according to the door. They each had a door from another truck put on them at some point in military life.

Ok,
My M1028a1 was "converted" 07/92 into a M1028a1 TM01 Shelter Carrier at "TEAD". The NSN number originally was 2320-01-133-5368 (M1031 C & C), the modified truck then had a new NSN, 2320-01-158-0820. The glove box option for the NP205 is: 7MF4.
