Dear All Seeing, All Knowing Medlog:

Can you help me with the following trailer? This is the one I remarked to you about a while back:

Trailer, Cargo, 1-1/2 Ton, 2 Wheel, M105A2
Johnson Corp, Bellevue, Ohio
Mfg. Serial No. 06-76168
Contract: C5776
Delivered: July 1968
Army Registration No.: US ARMY 06S76168 (on frame rails at front)

The Unit came out of Norman, OK, so probably OK Army Reserve or NG unit?

Hope you have a good afternoon fishing on the Potomac or Back Creek.....

With Greatest Regards,

No Potomac or Back Creek. Just walked in the door from sourthern MA at a conference that was very last minute. Computer internet capability crapped out on my laptop so had to wait til I got home.

Didn;t find the Reg # with an S but did with an H and the SN matches. It's also an engineer unit out of OK so it probably is yours. 344E is probably the vehicle bumper number.

I bought another deuce out of Ft. Lewis last week (M35A2 w/w), and curious about its history. Bumper markings show it to be from 81BDE, 181SPT, and its HQ vehicle 80.

VIN: 0539-10455
REG:04C-63271
NSN: 2320000771616

Thanks much,

Caleb

First off if the data plate says the NSN ends in -1616, you need a new data plate. A w/w data plate should say -1617. According to your info, the military also considered this a w/w (ie -1617 NSN truck).

Here's what I got:

Organization: HHC, 181ST SUPPORT BATTALION
Location: SEATTLE WASHINGTON
Nomenclature:TRUCK CARGO 2-1/2T Model:M35A2 W/W NSN:2320000771617
Serial Number:53910455 Registration Number:4C63271 Year of Mfg:1971
Usage Miles: 35000
Info was originally from Jan94 but appears to have had some form of an update just this year in May. Not sure why but may have been the truck was in storage and the mileage was updated when it was sent to disposal.

Thanks medlog! About the NSN, I cannot read the NSN on the dataplate (hard to see in the picture). The NSN I gave you was provided by GL on their site, so it could very well be wrong. The data plate looks to be a 17 though, so probably just an error on GL's part.

Thanks again.

Dear Medlog:

THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION on the OKLA. Trailer above, it was greatly APPRECIATED!!!

I did make an error on the bumper numbers, they were TCD120E HSC34TE , and the stencilled number on the frame rails was : US ARMY on left rail, 06S76168 on right, I guess the engineers didn't bother to restencil the frame rail markings as they are much more worn then the bumperettes and front box markings!! Pesky Regulations!! who needs 'em anyway?
I do believe that Chris and Co. really needs to consider giving you your own column or corner for VIN and related data searches according to the bumper markings..... Your Great Medlog icon seems to be all over Steel Soldiers, justly so!!! I don't know how your family gets any time in with you, but for myself, I am always indebted for the many kindnesses shown me by you presently and in the past. I remain, Sir, in your debt and in your service for them,

I remain, Sir,
Most Sincerely,

Kyle F. McGrogan
