First, a basic question. Is it unusual to have a bunch of data stamped on the frame near the S/N? You already gave me the unit info on my truck. I was doing a little more poking around and found more stampings aft of the S/N.

Nothing on 10872004. I have not found anything showing 10872 as a starting sn.

Pretty sure 10872004 is the MFR part number for the right frame rail.

Too old. The oldest vehicle must have still been in service in some form or another in 1971 but it also depended on where the vehicle served at if it got into the database. It's hit or miss up to the mid to late 80's but almost everything since then.

I actually know the base due to markings but the unit numbers where gone. Like I said if you could have I would have been suprised

I have an interesting situation that I believe belongs in this thread. Please excuse me if it doesn't and steer me to the correct venue.

I bought a 1985 M35a2 from eBay last month. Carnac graciously provided me with the history here and said it was a 1970 model. The paperwork to register it arrived today. The forms were for a 1985 but the serial number and mileage were waaayyy different. I just got off the phone with the seller. He told me that I had accidentally received the forms for another vehicle. I told him about the year model discrepancy. He replied that he can only go by what the government paperwork shows and that the paperwork for my vehicle says it is a 1985. Somewhere in the back of my head a little voice keeps telling me that I caught a deliberate attempt to pull a fast one.

Does the gummint provide incorrect year model information on the SF97? Does it do this routinely?

Has anyone here had positive or negative dealings with Carl Prewitt of Hooks, Texas?

Have I been had?
