NO, the contract date is not the mfg date. As stated, your truck is a USAF truck and built in 1988.

Usually it the the DMV inspectors that will assign a "new" VIN if needed. You don't get to make up your own.

+1 to this mine has a NC assigned 17 digit vin# on the door jamb. The inspecting DMV officer would have assigned it and installed the sticker. It's also what mine is titled with.

Is it possible that my deuce only has 8 numbers in the serial number? I cannot find the ninth number anywhere

so on the data plate numbers stamped on the frame are the same on the data plate, but the first numbers on the data plate are the vin numbers? or is all the numbers together the vin number? having troubles at the DMV, now i know its an 1988 i can get the correct SF97 for 30.00 more from GL but have to get the correct vin numbers put on the papers.
