Hey guys, I'm looking to award the engineer that came up with the horizontal radiator filler neck for the mep 802a and 803a series. This person must defy gravity with his designs. Any ideas for the prize are appreciated. Thanks

How about a punch in the nose.... ??
In all seriousness you are correct, it's one of the worst designs... but one way to overcome it is to use a radiator funnel
Not a regular funnel but the one that locks on like a radiator cap and has an attached adjustable funnel that also allows you to bleed off air by leaving the funnel 1/2 full and letting it run.

A tractor with forks or jacks on one side works wonders. Just tilt it way over and you can pour it in with a funnel. I agree though. Terrible design especially when deployed

Remember, the contract to build these went to the lowest price contractor. In order to keep the price down they had to hire cheap engineers. You just have to wonder how a design like this got approved. Someone had to look at this with their head tilted and say “yah, that looks right”... o_O
