Yeah, this was the CL truck, MikeW. And I thought it was a decent deal at the time. The truck is in really good shape, otherwise. Everything works, except that small hole in the engine block thing!;-)

If I recall the listed price correctly, you can swap out the engine and it still would be a fair deal.

Those suckers are heavy, don't drop it on your toes (or head)!

I hate to hear about that. I thought I was the only one with luck like that. I hope you can come up with an engine soon and cheap. Keep us posted.

I agree, it's worth a look see.
I would agree a postmortem is in order. Would be interesting to know what caused the failure. Rod, rod bolt, piston or did the end of the injector fail. Inquiring minds want to know. Also was that the original manufacture date or a rebuilt tag ?

There was a little noise, that I thought was in the upper end. The truck was very low on power and the temp was around 220, it shuddered and boom. Part of the piston came thru the block, and just looking thru the hole, the bottom end of the rod looks intact so I suspect a wrist pin or something. I wondered about trying to weld the block, but was afraid to mention it. The date was on the block data tag, right next to the hole.

I have searched, can anyone point me to a TM or thread about removing the powerplant? I would like to see some pics and study on it before tearing into it.

Bummer, Dude.

When we got our Deuce it came with a spare engine in the crate. (Not for sale - might someday need it.) I can confirm that they are HEAVY and care should be taken in handling.

Autopsy the engine and post your Coroner's Report, please. We can learn something from the forensics.

You truck looks like a gem, although now "in the rough". We wish you good fortune in polishing it back up to its previous luster.

Am I the only one that wonders what got the temp up to 220°?
I don't think I've seen any of mine go past 165°, even on a couple hour run in the middle of August.
No, the thought crossed my mind also. I just figured it was the least of his problems, now. :-?
But when you get ready to re-install a new motor, I'd check that cooling system out real well.

Why trash the remaining parts that are salvageable , just because there is a hole in the block dosen't mean there isn't a ton of parts. Running it till it dies would turn a $1000 worth of spare parts into scap because lack of oil .
