Those are rear facing turn signals. They're required in the European theatre and are available in kit form. Lots of guard trucks were also fitted with the lights. In the pre-resto pics you can also see the side marker upgrade as well. He did well in removing that stuff to resemble the Viet Nam era trucks.

My truck was a European truck, as it was rebuilt at Kaiserslautern Army Depot in Germany in 10/89. The lollypop turn signals just looked out of place and had to go, along with the marker lights to make it look period correct for a 67' truck.

Yeah! Let's see some tech articles about mods we can do. 11.00X20s seem like a good start, but I'll bet there are a lot of little things that will improve economy and performance.
