Just looking to pick everyone's brain to see what the major differences are between these 2 vehicles.

I’m surprised there aren’t more differences, seems like no real need for a separate model

I have not owned either of these vehicles, but I have owned an M1045 (TOW missile variant) and an M1043 (armament carrier). There are other differences with the TOW vehicle. It would also have missile racks in the bed (under the rear hatch), a wiring harness that hangs from the passenger side B pillar to power up the TOW missile launcher, and other mounts for various TOW-related accessories. I would assume the M1167 should have similar items unless they were removed.

The springs could also be different, I should check the manual, because some 1151A1s are rated at 15,500 GVW, while the 1167 (also REV) has a 13,100 GVW rating, which in turn may affect the ground clearance by 1-2 inches, as each model has some slight different clearances, and also from 1165A1, which is from the same family and rated at 12,100 GVW.

I am saying “some” because the linked data sheet shows the 1151at 12,100GVW, butI saw many on GP rated at 15,500 GVW.

Mine is one of the 15,500 pound ones, and I'd love to know why.

I would think that some were meant to be heavily armored and as such needed heavier springs and such.

So is the thought those with 15500 GVW are taller as a result considering the potential difference in ground clearance.

I don't have any exact data and couldn't find any specs on the springs in the manuals, on paper only, it looks like this:

M1165 = 18,2" ground clearance / Base Curb Weight 6,550 lb/ GVW 12,100
M1151 = 17.2" ground clearance / Base Curb Weight 7,500 lb/ GVW 12,100 (however some are rated GVW 15,500)
M1167 = 15.8" ground clearance / Base Curb Weight 11,250 lb/ GVW 13,100

I am only speculating that the unloaded / demil M1151 with GVW 15,500 could have the highest or at least 18.2" ground clearance given that the springs would have had to support up to 15,500, but I have no data to prove it.

EDIT: Maybe someone that has the 15,500 rated model could measure and let us know the distance from the wheel hub center to the bottom of the fender, front and rear.?
