The only fear I have of that Ham Nerd is shaking his hand... Did you see where his finger is located... Up his nose... UUUUUaky!!! That will stick to your code key.. He needs a M105 with a MEP003a at least and a tinfoil hat.. Joe
still many q's unanswered. Does the military still use radios? does the national guard still use radios? (ill be joining soon by the way) what good are they if you live in BFE oregon were MV owners are very few. are they only good to use if your talking to your buddy in the truck near you? would it be better to get a head set, and far cheaper?
If you get your Ham tickit and a HF ( High Frequency ) radio you will be able to talk around the world. The vhf ( Very High Frequency ) will only work line of sight. Good to talk to your local buddy and such. But if the S.H.T.F. you need H.F. and need to be a HAM. If there is high static and bad conditions only C.W. ( MORRIS CODE ) will get thru. When all else fails C.W. works..... -.-. --.- -.-. --.- -.. . .-- ...- ---.. -.- -.- Decoded that means general call to any station by WV8K, invitation to transmit.. Joe
Yes, the military still uses radios. Lots and lots of them.
You are correct, it is a lot cheaper to just get a headset just like it is a lot cheaper to just get a used 1980s Chevy S-10 pickup truck rather than an MV. Some things we do because we like them more than because they are the most practical item for the job.
Seems like fun but are there any practical things you can do? Can you get on a skip like cb's and chat with other MV radio guys? What is the best one to look for?
